Professor Mohamed Yassine Essid was the leader of a research group in this MCRI that was based in Tunisia and which included scholars from North Africa, the Middle East and Southern Europe. 2011 was a year of revolutions. It seemed that popular protests, mass gatherings, and the occupation of public squares, roundabouts and parks spread like wildfire across the world.

I am pleased to announce the recent publication of a book entitled "Fifty Key Thinkers on Globalization" published by Routledge. I wrote it in company with Professor Alina Sajed, currently based at the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Sajed will be taking up a position at McMaster University later this year, 2013.

This book is the 8th published in the Globalization and Autonomy Series of University of British Columbia Press. It is an English translation of the original French edition entitled Deux Méditerranées: Les Voies de la mondialisation et de l'autonomie published by Les Presses de l'Université Laval in 2010.
