Research Article Guidelines
At present, Research Articles include background papers to chapters prepared for the academic publication series as
well as working papers that address the MCRI project's research
objectives.
Citations
Text citations should follow author-date format. Citation
of archival materials presents an exception to this rule.
Archival materials only will be cited using numbered
endnotes. Click here for examples.
Notes
Notes are permissible in research
articles (but not Glossary Articles or Research
Summaries). They should, however, be kept to a minimum and formatted as endnotes.
Works Cited
All works cited in research
articles, and only works cited, should be included
in a Works Cited list at the end of the document. List items
alphabetically by author surname, and by year of publication
(YOP), from oldest to newest work. Click here
for examples.
Headings and Subheadings
Please
limit your sections to a maximum of three levels.
Example :
Article Title
Section Level 1
Section Level 2
Section Level 3 (if necessary)
Section Level 1
Section Level 2
As a matter of general interest, please note that we will
be including links within the research articles
to glossary definitions. For example, if you mention the WTO
in your summary or research article, it will link to the glossary
definition for the World Trade Organization. There is
no need for you to identify these links yourself –
however, feel free to propose new terms that should be defined.
Please suggest up to five keywords that describe the content of your Research Article.
Please send all correspondence related to submission of Research Articles to the
Compendium Editors at: [email protected].
